Finding a dentist: Visit the dentist's practice web pages which usually describe their practice and particular interests.  They are organised conveniently by county or country. In London alone, for example, there are now over 50 dental practices and dental surgeons on the web listed in this guide. There are also links to Health Authority sites for lists of dental practices for some counties.

England: The NHS (England) web site has a useful search facility for dental practices and information on NHS dental charges in England - click the "Find Services" link

Wales: The NHS Direct Wales website has information on dental health and a search facility for dentists.

Scotland: The "SHOW" - NHS Scotland's Health on the Web website has general health information and a search for a dentist by postcode throughout Scotland.

Northern Ireland: The Central Services Agency website has listings of dentists organised by area.

Eire: The Health Service Executive has information on dental treatment and links to dental health service information.

Telephoning a dentist: If you are a UK patient and are looking for an NHS dentist you can contact your local Health Authority. They will have a list of dentists currently accepting new NHS patients. You can use British Telecom's or Golden Pages' online phone number service to help locate a dental practice in your area - see the Search page for details.
